Newington Rotary invites you to bring your family to celebrate the holiday season when it hosts its annual Breakfast with Santa on Saturday, December 9th from 7:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the St. Mary’s School Hall on Willard Avenue in Newington.

For more than a decade local residents and our neighbors from the surrounding towns have stopped  by to support this Rotary fundraising event and enjoying a hearty all-you-can eat buffet breakfast menu that includes North Pole pancakes, eggs, sausage, bagels, doughnuts, coffee,  tea and orange juice. Admission is $9 for adults, $5 for seniors and children ages 3-12.  Kids under 3 eat free.

“The main attraction of course is Santa Claus himself,” says Rotary president Mike Turgeon, explaining that for over a decade the jolly old elf has managed to sneak away from the North Pole to make a pre-Christmas stop in Newington.   “He’s told us that coming here and seeing the smiles on the faces of the children and their parents energizes him to hurry back to the North Pole to complete his plans for the real visit on Christmas Eve.”

Children and their families will have an opportunity to sit on Santa’s lap to pose for professional quality photographs taken by Rotarians at a minimal cost of $10 per photo, quite a bargain from what’s charged at some of the area malls and shopping plazas, admits Turgeon.  No personal cameras are allowed.

“This is a great place to see Santa,” boasts Rotarian David Johnson, event chairman.   “It’s comfortable, it’s safe and there’s no need to freak out like being at the mall standing in long lines with hundreds of other people,” he adds.  ‘We give the kids the chance to enjoy a nutritional breakfast, have an up-close moment with Santa and make crafts with our volunteer Santa helpers,” Johnson explains.

“Like Santa, Rotarians care about the community and its children,” says Turgeon.  “We want families to come to celebrate the holiday season and leave with new memories and maybe even a new circle of friends.”

Newington Rotary is comprised of dedicated business professionals and retirees whose annual fundraising projects include collecting food and monetary donations to support the town’s food pantry, providing backpacks and school supplies for needy children, distributing dictionaries at local elementary schools and hosting an annual golf tournament that benefits the  Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation, to name just a few.
